DIY Holiday Potpourri

I’m back with a new video and wanted to share with you a quick DIY project I did over the holidays.

I used cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves, and dried orange slices.

To dry the orange slices:

  1. Cut orange slices about 1/8″ thick
  2. Place slices directly on a wire rack in a 200 degree oven
  3. Leave in oven for about 2 hours, flipping every 30 minutes.  Make sure slices are completely dry before removing.  I ended up leaving mine in about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Easy, beautiful, and smells amazing with zero synthetic fragrance or chemicals.

Fall is in the Air

September ER OrderHere is what came in my September Essential Rewards monthly order.  I had to replenish our Lime because we literally use this oil like it’s going out of style.  I love it in the diffuser, or putting the Lime Vitality in my water.  So good!  I got Taste of Italy for Eric to try when he cooks.  I have heard great things about this one and am anxious to see how it is!  Then I ordered a couple new-to-me oils that are seasonally appropriate – Nutmeg and Cinnamon Bark.  I thought they would be perfect to put in the diffuser, maybe with a little Orange too.  And even better, I thought I could put them to good use in a couple of DIY recipes I found on Pinterest.

I’m not a huge fan of room sprays, but I thought the Clove, Orange, Cinnamon combo would be awesome in the diffuser.  My mom used to put cloves and cinnamon sticks in a pot on the stove during the holidays just to make the house smell yummy and I love that using the oils in my diffuser brings back those cozy memories.

And of course, I can’t forget Christmas Spirit.  I have a friend that diffuses this all year long because it’s just that good.  I definitely stocked up on it!  It was a big hit at our annual Eggnog & Dessert Party last year and I’m looking forward to it filling the house this year too.
