What is an essential oil?
-It is the volatile oil of a plant, meaning it is evaporable, which is unlike a fatty oil (coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil etc.). Essential oils are extracted from trees, shrubs, flowers and stems and seeds. They are called the “lifeblood” of the plant for a special reason. They are from the part of the plant that helps the plant heal when it is suffering or injured. The essential oil is what heals and restores the plant to its normal functions, its homeostasis. Unfortunately, when plants are dried for tea/to make supplements, 95-97% of their essential oil is lost! By using essential oils, we receive the complete chemical profile in every drop! What essential oils do for the plant, they also can do for us; they can support our systems!!!
-EO’s are nothing new. Historically, essential oils are the oldest form of medicine, dating back to 4500BC. The best advantage of using 100% pure therapeutic grade oils is that they do not have a shelf life; they NEVER expire! Even the essential oils found in the Egyptian tombs today, are still viable and usable, and good as new, since they were 100% pure then, and Young Living oils are 100% pure now!
Properties of essential oils
-Helpful for restoring ALL body systems like – skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, lymphatic, urinary, reproductive and integumentary body systems – as well as the structures and functions of the body.
How do I use Young Living essential oils?
The FDA requires Young Living to label their oils as either dietary or cosmetic. Young Living had to choose the PRIMARY usage for each oil, since they can be used in so many different ways. YL follows the French model of essential oil usage because of the high quality of our essential oils. If in doubt, start with the primary usage on the label.
- AROMATICALLY: When inhaling, it takes 22 seconds for the oil to reach the brain. The only way to reach the limbic system is through smell, which provides emotional support to the nervous system. Diffusing is another way we inhale oils! It purifies the air, makes your home and room areas smell great without toxic chemicals! It can be great for respiratory support, stubborn spouses, crazy kids and siblings!
- TOPICALLY: Because of their molecular structure, essential oils are rapidly absorbed by the skin. When applied topically, it takes 2-3 minutes for an oil to reach the bloodstream, 20 minutes to affect every cell in the body, then metabolized within 2 – 3 hours.
- INTERNALLY: In water/drinks, cooking/baking, in capsules etc…Be sure to use glass or stainless steel when drinking essential oils in water. Citrus oils especially can digest petrochemicals, so it’s important not to use plastic. YL now has a Vitality line that is specifically labeled for internal usage.
What’s the difference between Young Living oils and the essential oils at my local health food or grocery store?
Young Living essential oils are therapeutic grade oils, which means they are not synthetic, and are pure high quality oils. Learn more about YL’s Seed to Seal promise and see why most of the oils on the market can’t compare with YL’s quality and dedication to purity.
Can I buy Young Living oils from Amazon?
I know it sounds like a super easy way to order oils, but it is against YL’s policies for independent distributors to resell YL products and often the sellers are scammers that buy Young Living oils, pour them into their own bottles to keep, and sell you cheap synthetic oils from the health food store that they further dilute with something like Crisco. Those caps look legit, but they can be purchased on Amazon so you won’t be able to tell that the bottle has been opened and poured out. Buy directly from Young Living on your own account. Having your own account gives you the power to buy the real deal plus you have support from a community to be successful in using YL. Even if you end up with a legitimate product, you won’t have anyone showing you how/when/why to use it.
If I sign up with a Wholesale account do I have to sell oils?
Absolutely not.
